As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/gamesfray.com\/huge-blow-for-nintendo-head-of-u-s-patent-office-takes-rare-step-to-order-reexamination-of-summon-subcharacter-and-let-it-fight-in-1-of-2-modes-patent\/\">Games Fray<\/a> (thanks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/us-patent-office-boss-orders-reexamination-of-nintendos-controversial-summon-character-and-let-it-fight-pokmon-patent-which-ip-lawyer-claims-further-undermines-credibility-of-its-case-against-palworld\">IGN<\/a>), the U.S. Patent Office boss John Squires (no, not quite The Stone Roses guitarist &#8211; close, though) has ordered the reexamination of Nintendo&#8217;s \u201csummon sub-character and let it fight\u201d patent.<\/p>\n<p>The patent was previously granted &#8220;without any objection&#8221; to Nintendo, though Squires points to two previous patents from Konami in 2002 and Nintendo itself in 2019 which may viewed as &#8220;prior art&#8221; references.
