Many of the best PC games 2011 were games that were also on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. This is not meant as something negative, but more just to show you that during this year. Many of the big games would be on both console and PC. A major reason for this was that triple A games would have huge budgets that would rival that of a Hollywood movie! Anyway, have a look down below and you will see what some of the best PC games of 2011 were.
As you would expect first-person shooters were huge in 2011 and any PC games of 2011 list is going to feature a number of them. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 brought the Modern Warfare series to a close and many gamers loved it. Battlefield was back with the incredibly high-quality Battlefield 3. Crysis 2 was released and was very popular with its incredible sci-fi action and open world kind of gameplay. One game, while a lot of fun that did ultimate disappoint some people was RAGE from Doom creators, ID. It was a brutal and over the top violent game that mixed first-person shooting with racing sections. One of the best PC games of 2011 was Deus Ex: Human Revolution which was a prequel to the first Deus Ex game and it had an incredible sci-fi/cyberpunk kind of story and some very interesting gameplay elements. Those who like to be scared while shooting had an awesome time with the first-person zombie survival shooter, Dead Island which saw you needing to work with other players to survive a zombie outbreak!
One of the most ambitious PC games of 2011 was L.A. Noire from Rockstar. This was not a typical open world, do what you want kind of game like Grand Theft Auto. This was a game all about trying to solve crimes by looking at people’s facial expressions, looking for clues and actually working just like a detective would in the 1940’s. Speaking of ambitious games, you cannot talk about the best PC games of 2011 and not mention Skyrim! The fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series just blew everyone away. This game was huge! It had a huge open world, a ton of missions to do and it actually had a great story running through the whole game. Thanks to some very clever modders, Skyrim is still one of the most popular PC games today.
2011 in PC gaming was not just all about first-person shooters and open world games. There were a couple of amazing third-person person games as well. Batman: Arkham City is regarded as not just one of the greatest superhero games of all time. But one of the best third-person person action/adventure games of all time. With sky-high production values, great gameplay, and an awesome story it is seen by many as the best game in the whole Arkham series. Another great third-person person game was Dead Space 2. Dead Space 2 kept the horror themes from the first game, but this time, it was much more action packed and frantic. It was an excellent game, made even better by playing in the dark with the sound way up!
There may not have been as much diversity in PC gaming in 2011 as there was in other years, but as you can see there was still some incredible games released during this year.
