It was actually really hard to make this list as narrowing it down was really tough and there were some great games that came very close to making this list. But we could not choose them all and down below you will find a summary of what we consider to be the best PC games of 2009.
We always like to talk about first person shooters and while there was plenty of first person shooters released in 2009. There was one above all the rest that really stood out for us and that was Left 4 Dead 2! This game was from Valve and it was just a whole lot of fun. The idea was that you were part of a team of survivors who needed to survive a horde of zombies. No matter if you were playing against the AI or against a team of people, Left 4 Dead 2 was a lot of fun and certainly one of the very best PC games of 2009. Many gamers are actually still waiting for Valve to make a Left 4 Dead 3! The other top first person shooter of 2009 was Borderlands. This over the top and violent loot fest just had everything that makes an online game great. You and some buddies need to team up to try and get that loot and ex so you can level up and improve your character.
PC gaming in 2009 also got a little bit dark. By dark we mean, The Dark Knight as Rocksteady Studios released the masterpiece that was Batman Arkham Knight. This was a real game-changer in the world of superhero games. Actually, you could say third-person action games in general as it was just such a well-made game. It had a great story that was very well acted and it kept you hooked, but the gameplay was just perfect and set the standard for what people expect in a Batman game.
Fans of fantasy games, open worlds and RPG’s will no doubt have Bioware’s, Dragon Age Origin on their best PC games 2009 list and so do we. This was Bioware at their best. It featured a number of classes, let you play the game the way you want and it actually had a good story. While the newer Dragon Age games may have surpassed this. Dragon Age Origin was and still is a very fun game. Another fun open world game was The Godfather II. You would not expect a movie game to be as good as this, but this was a very well made game that puts you into contact with many characters from the movie, but it kind of weaves it’s own story.
Gamers who like strategy and sim style games will no doubt be very happy that we consider Empire Total War to be one of the best PC games of 2009. This game was huge in scale starting you off in the 1700’s and going all the way up to the 18th century. There were many gamers who lost hours and hours to this game.
So there we have our best PC games of 2009. Please have a good look at the full PC games list 2009 as there really was some great games released in 2009.
