There are those PC games that get forgotten, PC games that never took off and PC games that are just awesome and we feel are worth you going back and checking out. We make sure to not just look at all the games that people remember, but those games that were forgotten by time.

PC gaming in 2016 has some fantastic first-person shooters such as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare taking things into outer space. Battlefield 1 taking things back to basics. Overwatch becoming one of the top multiplayer online shooters and the reboot of Doom scaring the hell out of everybody!
Rise of the Tomb Raider would prove to be one of the best third person action games in years. Speaking of action games, Mirrors Edge Catalyst was a game that many gamers were surprised got made, but were very happy it did.
Unfortunately, two of the biggest PC games of 2016, Streetfighter V and No Man’s Sky had a lot of hype behind them but sadly did not live up to the expectations.
Grand Theft Auto V was one of the biggest PC games of 2015 and it would add first person mode to the long-running series.
Fighting fans were very pleased with how Mortal Kombat X turned out and those who loved Star Wars had the reboot of Star Wars: Battlefront to play. That was not the only shooter to do big business in 2015 as there was also Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Battlefield Hardline.
One of the biggest gaming disappointments of 2015 was how poor the PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight turned out to be.
With the PS4 and Xbox One in full swing. Many PC games in 2014 were ports from those consoles. Games like Titanfall, Ultra Streetfighter IV, Wolfenstein: The New Order and Far Cry 4.
The Five Nights at Freddy series would get its first two games in 2014. One of the biggest releases in 2014 was Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare which took the first person shooter series into the future.
The remaining installments of The Walking Dead would all be released in 2014 and would be met with very positive reviews. The PC would finally get a good port of Resident Evil 4 thanks to the Ultimate HD Edition.
Some of the best PC games of 2013 were sequels to other big games. Bioshock Infinite, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Dead Space 3 were all huge games.
One of the most interesting releases of 2013 was how there was not just a new version of Final Fantasy XIV, but also Final Fantasy XI. 2013 would also see the release of two fantastic fighting games in the Mortal Kombat Komplete Collection and Injustice: Gods Among Us.
The second season of The Walking Dead would also get its first release towards the end of 2013.
2012 was a huge year in PC gaming with a ton of releases. The biggest though has to be The Walking Dead which won numerous game of the year awards and is still talked about by gamers now!
Dishonored, Sleeping Dogs and Alan Wake were all brand new IP’s that were very well received. Diablo III was released to a horde of rabid fans. It may have had a bit of a rocky start, but things are great now.
There were also some big sequels released such as Mass Effect 3, Assassin’s Creed III and Planetside 2 to name just a few.
The first thing you have to talk about when it comes to PC games in 2011 is Minecraft which is one of the biggest games of all time now! Another huge release in 2011 was the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series, Skyrim.
The follow-up to Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City was released to worldwide acclaim and is regarded as one of the best action games of all time.
Rockstar’s 40’s inspired, L.A. Noire was a game you either loved or hated and the much-delayed Duke Nukem Forever failed to live up to the over a decade of hype!
There was a lot of sequels released in 2010, but that was not a bad thing as some of the PC games in 2010 were incredible. Some of the biggest sequels released were BioShock 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Assassin’s Creed 2, Mass Effect 2 and Dead Rising 2.
While not really a new game, the first installment of the Call of Duty: Black Ops series was released in 2010. One of the biggest surprises of 2010 was Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing which proved to be an excellent kart racer.
The big disappointment of 2010 had to be the online Final Fantasy XIV, it just wasn’t as good as it could have been.
PC gaming in 2009 closely mirrored what was on consoles at the time as many of the biggest releases would also be on PS3 and 360.
Games like Batman: Arkham Asylum, Borderlands, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Ghostbusters, Left 4 Dead 2 and Street Fighter IV would be enjoyed by all gamers not just those with an epic PC!
There were so many huge releases in 2009 that many good games went under the radar such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Wolfenstein and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena which were all good games, but sadly overshadowed by the bigger releases.
There were some huge PC games in 2008 with some very big sequels being released such as Grand Theft Auto IV, Call of Duty: World at War and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3.
But there was also some phenomenal new games such as Dead Space, Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead and Assassin’s Creed which all got their debut games in 2008. The Lego series of games would also be expanded in 2008 with Lego Batman and Lego Indiana Jones being released.
Fantastic ports of Devil May Cry 4 and Bully, meant that PC gamers did not miss out on what the Xbox 360 and PS3 were getting. One of the biggest releases in 2008 though was Wrath of the Lich King, which was the most anticipated expansion for World of Warcraft.
You cannot talk about PC games in 2007 and not first mention Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which is still regarded by many as the best game in the whole series.
Two huge series were introduced in 2007 with BioShock and The Witcher both getting their debut games, both of which would go on to become huge franchises.
One of the best releases of 2007 was The Orange Box which was a collection that featured the Half-Life 2 saga, the first Portal and Team Fortress 2. One of the biggest gaming disappointments of 2007 was the poor port of Resident Evil 4 which was a game many PC gamers were waiting for.
While there were some big PC games in 2006, it also was a year that featured a lot of expansions. Battlefield, Civilization IV, Everquest II, Dungeon Siege, Final Fantasy XI and The Sims 2 are just a handful of games that got expansions.
Some games such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Star Wars: Empire at War and Heroes of Might And Magic V, would see not just a whole brand new game released, but also an expansion in the same year!
These days getting DLC so quick after a game released is not all that uncommon, but you could point to 2006 and say this is the year when that practice got big!
When it comes to PC games in 2005 many of the big hitters were sequels. Battlefield 2 and Call of Duty 2 started what a war that would still be fought to this day!
Civilization IV, Black & White 2 and Age of Empires III are just a few of the franchises that got huge PC releases in 2005. A new series of games would be released in 2005 and that was the first game in the Lego Star Wars series.
In keeping with the theme of sequels in 2005. Star Wars: Battlefront, Serious Sam, and Quake would all get new games in 2005.
PC gaming in 2004 was a huge year. With games like World of Warcraft, Doom 3, Half-Life 2, The Sims 2, Battlefield Vietnam, Painkiller and Counter-Strike: Source being some of the major highlights.
This is one of the hardest years to just hand pick a few titles as there were so many good ones! As well as the ones listed, Everquest 2, Manhunt, Star Wars: Battlefront and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War were all very popular.
This year also saw the release of one of the greatest movie tie-in games of all time, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. With the PC version being far superior to the one on Xbox.
PC games in 2003 were huge and a handful of the highlights are. 2003 was huge for first-person shooters as the first Call of Duty game would be released as well as a port of the original Halo.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was released and is still one of the most popular games in the series. The original, Planetside was first released in 2003 which built a huge following.
2003 was a big year for Star Wars games as the Bioware RPG, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was released along with the first-person action game, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy and the MMO, Star Wars Galaxies.
The PC had the PS2, GameCube, and Xbox to compete with in year 2002, but there was still some amazing PC games in 2002. Final Fantasy XI was a huge hit and many fans argue that Final Fantasy XIV is still not as good as XI.
Some of the best PC games of 2002 were actually ports of console games such as Grand Theft Auto 3, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and Silent Hill 2.
The PC still had some great exclusives such as the third entry in the Warcraft series. Games like Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast and The Elder Scrolls III would be later ported to consoles from PC.
PC Games in 2001 were fantastic with many amazing games being released. Peter Molyneux released the acclaimed, Black & White.
The first-person shooter bubble had not quite reached epic proportions yet, but games like Aliens Vs Predator 2 satisfied shooter fans.
While it may not be as big as it once was back in 2001, MMORPG RuneScape was a breath of fresh air and a huge deal in the world of PC gaming during this time!
There were some amazing games in the new millennium and a few of the highlights when it comes to PC games 2000 are first of all the original Deus Ex which was a real achievement in first-person gaming.
Third-person games were not left out though as there was the dark and disturbing American McGee’s Alice which had a twisted and grim look on the classic fairy tale.
Two of the biggest PC games 2000 were the original Sims which is still insanely popular to this day and Diablo 2 which still has a following over 15 years later!
